return!

well, i'm back. i took a slightly unplanned but not unwelcome internet holiday while i was at home. this is kind of nice, as it leaves me quite a bit behind on all of the net things i usually read daily, which in turn means that the inertia barrier is higher and i will have less trouble abandoning them until i finish quals. i've got three big exams in the next three months, and in order to study sufficiently, am about to enact a reading-fiction, reading-online-comics-or-blogs-other-than-livejournal and watching-dvds ban. we'll see how i actually do with this, but i think it's necessary. i'm not sufficiently nervous about these things yet, and do not want to get my ass kicked. so this is a forwards apology to any of you who i don't manage to see much before late march. it's nothing personal!

in other news, tristan came to my parents house for christmas, which i think went really well. they liked him, he seemed to like them, and he didn't go mad having to meet the zillions of family friends. it was really nice having him there too--he made the holiday so much nicer! i can't wait for exams to be over and packing to be finished so i can move on over there and spend every day with him.
